Buonconsiglio Castle

The Buonconsiglio castle is one of the largest and most important monuments of the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
From the 13th to the late 18th century it was the residence of the Prince Bishops of Trento.
It consists of buildings from different historical periods which are located within the walls, in a slightly elevated position above the town of Trento.
The "Castelvecchio" (Old Castle) is the oldest core and it's dominated by an imposing cylindrical tower. At the southern part of the complex "Torre Aquila" (Eagle Tower), which contains the famous "cycle of months", one of the most fascinating secular art of the late medieval period.
